Cruz Vieja by Bodegas Faustino Gonzalez. Long, moreish and endlessly complex. Aged for an average of 15 years. This sherry has its origins in a handful of barrels of very old Palo Cortado that the family bought when they founded the bodega. Bottled ‘En Rama’, with no filtration, treatment or clarification before bottling. As a result it retains loads of additional complexity and flavour characteristics.
It has the classic Palo Cortado combination of Amontillado aromas and rich, velvety Oloroso body. Flavours start with bitter caramel, toasted nuts and lemon juice, giving way to umami teriyaki. A long roasted hazelnut finish. At its best when paired with food, this Palo can stand up to very robust flavours.

Only 1000 bottles released per year. Most are sold in Spain, very few escape!
Please note that the traditional unfiltered nature of this sherry means that it may be a little hazy and will have some sediment. This is the small price we pay for the retention of all that additional complexity and flavour.
